His paws flittered silently along the stone. His ivory whiskers flickered, ears swiveling 'round to catch the noise. He was good at this. Always good. He rarely slipped up. And when he did, he was gone in a split second. He'd never been caught before. This was his game! As soon as he was in, he stood up straighter and fixed his ruffled pelt. Time to blend in. Of course, there wouldn't be much hiding the wild look of him, especially the slight bump of his ribs at his thin sides.
He took on a steadier walk, dropping his head every now and then to duck around someone. His tail swept the ground behind him, and someone stepped on it. He lurched around with a startling hiss, his ivory fangs glistening in the sunlight. In a flash, he was gone, darting around several others and sliding to a halt quite a few lengths away. It hadn't been much of a stumble, really. Who wouldn't hiss when their tail got stepped on by some bumbling fool?
With a sigh, Del sat down and tucked his tail around his forepaws. He lifted his large forepaw to his muzzle, flicking away a bit of dirt on his nose. "What am I thinking? I could never blend in with these... these... idiots! Though, it's fun to be able to slip right under their noses without them knowing. that's what they get for being all high and mighty." He growled to himself, flattening his ears. He stood up, looking around. "Now, what should I take this time..." Del murmured, trying to decide what his raid would include that day.

King Fenris Arei was walking around this palace, more lonely than ever. This was usual, though, his loneliness. He didn't particularly enjoy spending time with his children, and his mate was off somewhere unknown to him. So he prowled about his domains, admiring his own home exquisitely. God, this place is so big sometimes even I forget this stuff is here, he thought as he stared in interest at a beautifully detailed painting. It depicted a battle scene of lions and tigers and slaves, the slaves getting their heads practically ripped off with the lions and tigers roaring in victory. Some sort of civil war, Fenris assumed, though he knew there was no documented history of such a thing. The day slaves rebel is the day we get new slaves, he thought. They'll all be dead before they know what hit them. And besides, I think those caracals are much better servants anyway.
As he continued on, he found his paw steps echoing in the lovely marble halls. His light amber eyes shimmered, his muscles rippling under his pelt quite maliciously. Fenris needed some action, some excitement. He was debating whether or not to go out on the streets, to find someone to torment or a female to entertain, perhaps. Fenris Arei had always been a faithful lover to Vitani, but then again, what was the point of love if not for the males to abuse it? The king's answer: there was none, besides continuing on the royal lineage, of course. Royal blood was vital to the crowns, and Fenris wouldn't trust his kingdom with anything less.
The aggressive snow leopard heard the paw steps. His white ears perked, listening intently. Fenris knew the paw steps of every animal in the palace, even the slaves. He had many hours to sit and listen on sleepless nights where he would awaken to the screams of others. These steps he heard now were not familiar at all, and he instantly knew there was an outsider among them. He crept behind the tom, spotting the leopard immediately and stalking him. No one enters my palace without a death sentence, he thought, his claws simply itching to rip this thief apart.
While Fenris was lost in his fantasy of blood, he failed to notice how close to the intruder he actually was. He felt panic flow through him as he stepped on the other feline's tail, and he recoiled and recovered quickly, ducking down behind a pillar. The king was absolutely outraged at his own carelessness, but the cat had no idea Fenris was there, so the thief continued, foolish enough to speak his evil plans aloud. Idiots? Under our noses? Fenris wanted to laugh out loud at this cat's ignorance, but he knew it would have to wait.
The king stayed back, preparing to pounce. He lashed his tail, perfectly silent. He was the hunter, the thief was the prey. Besides, Fenris was much larger than this snow leopard. He twitched his ears in anticipation for the leap. In one swift, silent movement, he charged.
Fenris leaped into the air on cue, his claws aimed perfectly square on to the intruder's back. There was no way the thief could dodge it, and Fenris felt himself prepare for the blood to seep through his claws. He was going to bowl this cat right over and show him what royalty was made of. I'll have a chat with him later about being more careful, Fen thought in the air, almost feeling the flesh already.

Delgato sat there for a moment, musing over what he wanted to do. As he stood up, though, he heard one soft step behind him. His ear snapped back as the quietest ruffle of fur alerted him to company. In a split second, he dove to the side, rolling to his paws. His fur rose along his spine, and his sapphire eyes narrowed. Great, it's the king. He thought, his claws stretching out. "Relax, I didn't feel much like causing any trouble today." He straightened up, letting his tail sweep back around him as his fur flattened. "I've only ever taken one of those shiny pebbles, anyways. I don't do for stealing big. I'm not the most threatening thief out there. The only thing I usually steal is a good day." He mewed, flicking his ear. He looked a bit more relaxed, but his muscles were still tense and ready for action if Fenris sprang at him again.
Rather then let it get to that point, he stretched his forepaw out, claws sheathed once more, and lowered his shoulders and muzzle in a respectable bow. "Forgive me, Your Majesty." The words rolled off of his tongue smoothly, but his head ached on the inside, and he was mentally kicking himself. He'd never bowed to royalty before! How did he know to place his paw exactly there as so not to look like a fool...? He shook his head, blinking upward as he rose. His pelt rippled over his lightly protruding ribs.
"And can you honestly blame a guy for wanting to slip in and have a nice day inside this beautiful place? You do a nice job in guarding it and keeping the riffraff out, I might add." He lapped at his chest fur, then lifted his paw to wipe a bit of dust from his cheek. The dark spots beneath his eye became clearer; the unique markings that he'd carried from his kithood as a part of the royal family until now became visible. Royal blood coursed through his veins, and he didn't even know it. He didn't even know his last name. "My name is Delgato. And before you ask, I don't know my last name. I think it started with an 'A', though. I'm still trying to figure it out." He twitched his whiskers, shaking his pelt out slightly.
The darkness of his fur was in deep contrast to his light muzzle, and sky blue eyes. He was still quite handsome, if you could look past the thinness. A life by yourself was never quite the easiest. It was harder to find and catch food, which made Delgato the swift, agile hunter and fighter that he was today. Having to work so hard from such a young age had hardened him, made it possible to survive. He wondered absently if the royalty ever had to hunt for their own food, or if it was served to them on silver platters... He would have asked, but felt that it probably wouldn't have been the smartest thing to ask right at that moment. He didn't want to irritate the King anymore then need be. Del preferred keeping the fur on his shoulders.
OOC: I need someone to recognize those markings... It must be discovered that he's the long-lost missing royal!

The cobblestone streets and entertainment was all that was needed to bring a relaxed smile to the woman's face, her features bright as she ventured through the palace grounds. It was all so lively and carefree; the dancers danced to their merry tunes, the music blared to its full potential, and the singers sang just to be heard. The artists and the all the rest lingered closely to the outskirts of the road, but joined in with the acts of entertainment the best they could. Friendly nods were given to those who acknowledged her presence within the area, and she moved with squared shoulders and a regal aura, pace slow and thoughtful.
It wasn't long until up ahead she realized a commotion, the population within the streets dwindling to less around these parts, where the entertainment was scarce. Vitani paused, lingering within the shadows to pick a part the pieces of this event. Her heart jumped a beat when she realized that Fenris was attempting to pounce upon a fellow snow leopard, but who was unfamiliar to the palace's ranks. He did not belong - or at least that was the Queen and King seemed to understand. Her gaze fluttered, the stranger's words reaching her faintly after he dodged the attack that Fenris had attempted to throw upon him. Her muscles bunched, limbs stretching forward to carry her toward the tensed duo, eyes locking instantly upon the stranger.
Vitani's lips were pursed, her hips rocking gently as she ventured to stand beside Fenris, even if he was most likely crouched once more. Her flank brushed against his, tail flickering to gingerly wrap their tips together in an attempt to coax him to a more suitable status, even if he had more than an appropriate reason to attack his intruder. ''The palace is a beautiful place, but you're not smart to sneak in; you do know how much worst this could be, don't you?'' She mused to this leopard slowly, eyes narrowing to lock onto his face with surprise focus. Her golden gaze seeped over his face, taking in his features greedily. He looked malnourished - far from the luxurious diet of the royals - but there was something about him that caught Vitani's attention. Beneath his eyes sat those dark markings, and they tugged recklessly at her memory, trying to jab an answer from the back of her mind. Her face contorted into a look of slight confusion, and she'd wait until her mate finished speaking before she'd let her voice carry out again, strong and almost demanding. ''What did you say your name was?'' Rummaging her brain in an attempt to decode this situation, she'd wait for further information, her heart feeling a slight tug as she watched this boy.
